Akai Strategies founder Mary Lou Akai-Ferguson is an organizer, educator, and strategist. I helped her launch her freelance business with a brand guideline and website prototype. Akai-Ferguson’s work is deeply involved in and inspired by the AAPI community. The visual system aims to both appeal to the younger generations with clean, contemporary typography, and also pay homage to Akai-Ferguson’s roots with nods to traditional South-Korean and Japanese symbolism.

Akai Strategies mission is to empower, educate, and activate communities; so it was important that the color palette was bright and energetic, with bold icons and patterns to accompany it.
